Overview

Venmo is a digital wallet that allows you to make and share payments with friends. Venmo users are people who want to quickly split bills, which can include things like movies, dinner, rent, tickets, etc. There is a spectrum of user patterns, from niche users who use Venmo with a small group of friends to pay for things like rent and groceries, to regular users who create transactions for a variety of expenses.

Objective

However, there is no easy option to pay or request multiple people and split bills fairly. Users have to individually make payments or send requests. The objective is to redesign Venmo for splitting bills to make a complicated process both intuitive and simple to use.

User Pain Points

The following are the core problems this redesign aims to solve:

Individually making payments or sending requests is a hassle - Users are likely to make errors in choosing the correct people in the transaction. Having to make one payment at a time is frustrating and time-consuming.

Calculations are tedious - Users are unwilling and likely to make errors when calculating the right amount to pay/request.

Viewing payment history is unorganized and difficult to navigate - Payment history is organized date with most recent on top. It is difficult to find older transactions.
